As of 4/21/2005, the US government now requires compliance with new HIPAA security regulations. This requires that there be a backup and disaster recovery plan for most medical practices that handle patient data. HIPAA Backup will provide you with the means to implement these plans. 

HIPAA Backup is a service that protects your data from irreparable loss or damage and will provide you with a means to recover your data from offsite storage in the case of a disaster. We will backup your files at any convenient time or restore files from a backup copy. All these operations are performed in the background. You only need to set up the service once, and we will execute the scheduled backups at the time needed.

HIPAA Backup works with files organized in items. You can set a number of parameters for an item: source and destination locations for files and folders, compression, encryption, scheduling, etc.

  • On Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista, backs up when the machine is turned on

  • Will backup the files specified at the schedule you choose without user interaction 

  • Integrated ZIP compression with the ability to create password-protected ZIP files; 

  • 128 bit Blowfish encryption support for stored data - this encryption method has has never been broken. Even MedTech staff will not be able to view your data without the encryption key that you select!

  • Special plug-ins to backup your Outlook, ICQ and Registry data (installed separately); 

  • Ability to store multiple versions of backup files with timestamps; 

  • Multi-threaded transfer engine that executes backups in the background with minimum system resource consumption; 

  • Backup of several folders or files at a time; 

  • Activity log in RTF format with the option to automatically ZIP old log files; 

  • Option to run backup on log on/log off; 

  • Option to wait N minutes after logon before processing backups; 

  • Options to set any other program to run before/after running a backup item; 

  • Import/export of all settings and registration status; 

  • Command line interface for professional users; 

  • E-mail notification about operation results; 

  • Drag&Drop from Windows Explorer; 

  • Tray icon displays status of current operation. 

  • One week’s worth of backups will be maintained online

  • 4 weekly backups, 3 monthly backups, 4 quarterly backups, and 1 annual backup will be kept off of MedTech’s premises and can be made available the next business day.
